The snow was on the ground almost all the way south. As we drove through Georgia, there were patches of packed ice on the highway. They would just pop up before you! There had been hundreds of accidents, according to the local news. The DOT down here should send its crews up to Connecticut each year for a lesson in highway maintainence after a snowfall. We counted about a dozen abandoned cars along the Georgia highways, even 4 days after the storm. Thankfully, we made it through without incident.
We kept a packing list going for at least a month before leaving, writing down last minute thoughts of items to bring. We were almost at Red Bay, Alabama, where the motorhome was being stored, when Tony said: "You DID bring the keys, right?" Now, the storage facility had the keys to start the engine, but all of the other keys, including the ones for the generator compartment, and the storage bays, were at home. I said: "Uh......, no, did you?" So, during all this time of writing down things to take, neither of us remembered the rest of the keys!!! It's really tough getting old.......
So, when we arrived, just before the storage facility closed, we had to scramble to acquire spare keys - good thing the facility was across the street from the Tiffin manufacturer, where they had all the keys we needed. We're not off to a great start, here!
