CROSS COUNTRY TRIP 2010 - IOWA, NEBRASKA
Blew through Illinois on our way to Blue Grass, Iowa, to see Tony's buddy, Tom, and his wife Connie. Tony met Tom in Viet Nam - They were Helicopter Crew Chiefs with the Robin Hoods.
After taking us out to dinner, they took us for a drive along the Mississippi, and the recent flooding was evident in a campground, with the water still completely covering a site.
Homes and businesses still had sandbags to protect their properties from the high waters.
We continued on through Nebraska, on our way to Colorado.
Iowa and Nebraska were mostly flat and wide open, with fields of corn and soybeans as far as the eye could see. Sprinkled in, there were windmills and dairy farms. It was a long driving day today, and it seemed we would never reach Colorado.
