CROSS COUNTRY TRIP 2010 - LAS VEGAS

Drove through Arizona a short distance into Nevada - the scenery again was spectacular, with the highway winding through canyons between huge mountains which dwarfed us.

We arrived in Las Vegas and 100 degree temps!  What a switch from the delightful weather in Colorado!

Met Tony's friend Dan, who he knew from the Bronx years ago, but hasn't seen in 30 years, and his wife Regina for dinner.  Good food, great company - hopefully we'll see each other again soon.

We met our dear friends Ron & Roseanne - Tony and Ron met while serving in Viet Nam.

Next stop: Graceland Wedding Chapel!!

Yes, we finally made it legal!  

It was a wonderful ceremony, and Maria was walked down the aisle by...............none other than....drum roll................ ELVIS!!!

And not only did he give me away, but he serenaded us with 2 of his biggest hit songs.  There are 2 ways to view our wedding:

Afterwards, Ron & Roseanne treated us to a fabulous dinner at the famous Morton's Steakhouse - what a feast we had, from the Champagne Toast and fine wine, to the Bone In Rib Eyes, Bacon Wrapped Scallops, Crabcakes and sumptuous desserts! We'd better take an extra statin tonight! The menu was personalized with our names, and the service was impeccable, courtesy of Ron, Jr., who works at Morton's.   

Then, to add the icing on the cake, they took us to a great restaurant, Roma Deli, where I may have had the best Orange Roughy ever!  This is Celine Dion's favorite place to drop in - However, she didn't care for the wooden tables in the restaurant, so she had them make a granite topped table ready for her, so of course, that's where we wanted to sit!  

Top that off with tickets to the Elvis Show at The Venetian.  We sat right up front, maybe 10 feet from him - He looked and sounded just like The King!!  We were asked not to take flash photography, so I put the camera away, but sure enough, Tony Z sneaks a shot of The King from our table.

THEN....off to The Bellagio, to sit and enjoy the music of the incredible, mesmerizing pianist, David Osborne.  

David's music is incredible, and you can appreciate that he thoroughly enjoys his art.  He has made 20 CDs, and has performed at the White House for every President since Jimmy Carter.  The man is an icon - so glad Ron & Roseanne took us to hear him. 

What a superb 2 days spent with the Lalli's, and we were fortunate to get to see all the kids - Ron, Jr, Danielle and Ali, each sweeter than the next - A lovely family.  We had a great trip to Las Vegas, and we'll miss them, since we're off to California tomorrow.
